Microfiltration technology

When used in various systems, oil is exposed to numerous adverse factors. In order to eliminate them and maintain correct oil parameters, a series of treatments can be applied. Each treatment procedure should be selected to match the oil and performance parameters as well as the negative factors it is exposed to.

Filtration is one of the basic treatments which ensure steady oil parameters and, most importantly, guarantee oil purity. The majority of systems which use oil are equipped with filtration elements which retain particulate matter. These elements include metal meshes from suction filters (with limited accuracy and capacity) and glass fibre cartridges mounted on the outlet to the tank, with much greater accuracy and capacity. Nonetheless, filtration effectiveness depends on the separation rate of individual particulate types and the accuracy of the filtering barrier.

Correct filtration extends the lifetime of the oil and subassemblies of the system in which the oil is used. As a result of the following factors: temperature, oxygen, metal catalyst particles (FE, Cu) and water, the oil hosts various chemical reactions, including oxidation. The oil has a protective barrier in the form of additives neutralising this adverse effect, however, if this effect is protracted, sometimes this barrier becomes depleted. This can be remedied by using filtration as additional protection from these factors.

A good filtration system ensures a long lifetime of the oil and problem-free operation of the oil system.
